UPDATE FRIDAY 20TH MARCH
The government has closed many leisure venues this evening, we are included in these closures. Last night Pip and I decided we should cancel studio bookings and have emailed all customers with existing bookings to notify them. If you have a party or Ladies’ Night booking and we have not managed to contact you directly by phone or email please do get in touch so we can discuss return of your deposit.
Our open hours for collection of fired pottery, collecting or dropping off pre-ordered takeaway pottery, or choosing items to take-away (one customer allowed at a time in the studio) will be 10am to 12pm every day except for Thursday, on Wednesday and Friday we will open for late collections and drop offs: 5pm-6pm.
We will be able to provide ‘take-aways’ … in order to minimise your time in the studio choosing we would urge you to use our online store at http://www.glazed-creations.co.uk to pre-purchase your pottery and glaze colours, we also have brushes for sale. You will be notified when your order is ready to collect, can paint in the comfort of your own home and then return the pottery to us for firing. All glazes and brushes should be kept for future projects, we would appreciate it if in the interests of infection control you return only your painted pottery.
In a nutshell we are SHUT but not CLOSED. We are still here, trying to adapt to these rapidly changing times.
We have been overwhelmed by all the wonderful messages of support and encouragement, we aim to keep Glazed Creations as accessible as we can safely and with social conscience. Who would have thought we could run a pottery ‘take away’ from an online store?!

UPDATE TUESDAY 17TH MARCH
Over the past 3 weeks we have drawn on our previous lives in veterinary medicine and greatly increased ‘behind the scenes’ cleaning to ensure that our customers can feel relaxed and happy whilst painting with us in the studio. As planners we have had a phase 2 up our sleeve and with the government now asking that we all decrease our social interactions we are getting the studio set up today with a few things that are going to be more obvious to everyone but that are necessary to ensure that our happy little studio can stay a place of rational creativity and calm as we try as a small business to ride out this storm and support our customers as they battle to maintain their sanity with isolation and bored children! We love creativity and the coming months are an opportunity for Glazed Creations to continue to spread colourful creativity in new ways.
In the coming days you will see a range of our stock appearing in our online shop so that you can order your bisque, order your glaze colours and we will pack you a pottery painting ‘takeaway’ to stop by and collect. Once you have painted drop your pottery back to us for firing and we will have it ready to collect a week later.
For those of you that are keen to get out of the house we will have tables available for painting in the studio. This is sure to be a wonderful calm experience with the air of ‘private dining in a posh restaurant’ as we have reduced the number of tables in our studio to just 2 tables that seat 4 and one table that seats up to 6 people. This ensures that you will be seated more than 2 metres away from other family groups, the advised distance that we keep from others. These tables MUST be booked in advance, either online, by email or phone. We will be asking that people all wash their hands when they arrive at the studio and before leaving. Staff will be providing you with your paint colours from bottles into palettes rather than you touching paint bottles to serve yourself (silver service style!), and you can be assured that all paintbrushes and equipment is being thoroughly cleaned in hot soapy water (so much so that we are finding some brushes are falling apart!). I hope that it can go without saying that all staff are maintaining high standards of hand hygiene and are all keen to look after our customers throughout this crazy period.
We are concerned about the social isolation that this virus may impose on some of our customer groups, we all know that the elderly and new mums are particular risk groups. As such we have a few crazy plans such as paint and chat ‘zoom meetings’ and maybe even an online guided techniques workshop or two for those of you that are at risk of ‘painting withdrawal’.
We look forward to taking you on this journey with us, and look forward to your feedback as we trial new ideas!
